Today, we talked a little bit about infinity in AP Calculus to help evaluate limits at vertical asymptotes. I put up a bunch of expressions like infinity times zero and infinity over infinity and asked students for all the possible answers. Then, students went to sides of the room depending on what they thought and tried to argue their ideas. The whole point was to get at the idea of an indeterminate form. It would of worked great with 8-10 students, but I think it wasn’t a well designed activity for my class of 19 behaviorly challenged boy dominated AP class. Oh well, can’t win them all!
