Day 27 – The Limit Definition Continued

We finished defining the derivative today (though we have been using them for weeks!). Despite many students asking why we do this instead of just using the power rule (the only downside of teaching it second), I feel really good about where they are with conceptual understanding, especially compared to the classes from previous years. I feel like their minds are freed a bit to just do the algebra.

In AP, we wrote equations of tangent lines and talked about differentiability via differentiating functions and seeing where the derivative is undefined (like the cube root of x).
