Day 77 – And the Memory Experiment Begins!!!

Each year I have taught Calculus, we have done a really fun memory modeling experiment during the unit on growth and decay models (I blogged about this a bit here). I put them into groups and give them 15 minutes to memorize as many of these 50 randomly generated three letter syllables as possible. Then I test them over the course of the next week and a half and we fit models to the data. This class is super enthusiastic about EVERYTHING, so no surprise, they were pumped to do this. But one kid looked up about halfway through to say “Why are we doing this?” It made me realize that I could get them to do just about anything.
