Day 111 – Interpreting Definite Integrals

I feel like I'm REALLY struggling right now with my non AP Calc students. We are doing basic definite Integrals and every new thing seems to push something old out of their head. Like when we used absolute vale when calculating area and then all of the sudden absolute value signs started popping up in their normal definite Integrals around each of the values that they were subtracting. I guess the only thing to do is to slow down a bit and focus on some conceptual understanding. So today we did a bunch of problems where they just had to interpret the meaning of Integrals. I think it went okay, but it took about 25 minutes, when I thought it would take 10.

Step by step by step…
